The Chinese Art of calligraphy Lesson reflection
Things that went well during presentation:
- Having the video embedded within the PowerPoint. Having everything right there saves time.
- Distributions of materials. Having most of their materials already in-front of them before the start of the lesson. Anything else that needed to be handed out was done during the video.
- Having a review before the start of the lesson. Since this would be used as a closing just recapping on what was previously learned.
things i would do differently next time:
- Having the Rubric told to the students before the students start creating their calligraphy.
- Showing the video after I have already told the students what they will be doing for today.
- Finding a way to make the lesson longer, maybe adding in a group discussion.
How might it lead to different results:
**Results are from the three prior**
- The students would be aware of their expectations before they even have a chance to start. This would encourage them to do what needs to be done to achieve all three points.
- So it does not seem like I am relying on the video to actually teach them. Instead the video could be used to reiterate what i have already taught them. And it would just serve as a preview of what is to come.
- Adding a group discussion about the culture connection I feel would make the lesson longer. I could actually bring in items like fortune cookies, wall decorations that have calligraphy on them, and menu's from restaurants.
